Crop report

It’s hard to believe we’re almost to mid-June! That means, strawberry harvest is literally right around the corner since we’re planning to be opening next week.

In the past week we’ve been checking the berries every day. We know our customers are anxious to pick the freshest, most delicious sweet strawberries, because we are too!

Since the spring started off strong, then was mostly wet and cold during the month of May, June’s heat is welcomed by all, including the berries. With ample moisture in the ground, (thank you 1.5″ of rain last Saturday, June 3) the berries are moving along nicely.  The weekend heat should help push them along to ripen by next week.

June 7 Berry Progress

Right now we’re busy working on last minute details to make sure that when we do open, we are ready for customers. What types of last minute details you ask?

Painting and putting up road signs, weeding, making sure next year’s crop is in good shape so we can focus on the harvest, planting flowers by the house, hiring and training employees, answering phone calls and emails, writing this blog, posting to Facebook and Instagram as well as making sure our website is up to date. I’m sure there’s a million other things I’m missing, better go make that “to-do” list!

We hope to see you out picking delicious, fresh, sweet berries real soon.
